Heh, you mean like President Bush Sr. did in the first Gulf war? What a joke.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Funny, I don't remember being given orders by someone who was not a member of the United States Military during Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

We ran that show Lan. From beginning to end. WE ran it. We told the Brits, French and Arabs where to go, what to do and how to do it.

So, please feel free to tell me where my orders came from since apparently I'm just a dumb Jarhead and don't know what the fuck I am talking about. If the U.S wasn't in charge of the coalition that liberated Kuwait, please tell me who was. I would really like to know.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It is. Except for when someone who doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground tries to tell you about something you lived through. Then it just becomes dumb Jarhead with a whole lotta 'f-bombs' in the sentences that follow it.

Gunslinger, sorry to get you riled up, but my comment was sarcastic. GL echoes The John Birch Society in claiming Kerry is a Socialist who would hand over sovereignty to the U.N. I reminded him of how the infamous Socialist (more sarcasm) President Bush Sr. USED the U.N. to obtain an international resolution before invading and to build a large coalition of about 500K troops. The U.S. retained sovereignty over our own soldiers as your own experience proves. That war shows how the U.N. can still be effective.

GL also misunderstands the "global test".

1. Kerry stated the U.S. always has and always will retain the right to pre-emptive military action.
2. Kerry stated he would never cede U.S. sovereignty to the U.N. or another nation. See first paragraph.
3. Kerry used the PAST TENSE when describing the "global test", meaning the U.S. could take pre-emptive action, but then must be able to fully explain and justify the actions to U.S. citizens and the world community.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Accepted and understood. However, the UN was not 'used'. The world wanted Hussein outta Kuwait, but didn't know how to do it. That's why we went in and did the job. The first Persian Gulf war can be used as yet another example of how when other countries want or need something we are their best buddies. Yet, when we want something, where is everyone at?

Oh, and on a personal note, very few things can get me that riled up. You just found one. Happy hunting on finding the others.
